MURAL & INSTALLTION
FITZ BOOKS & WAFFLES
BUFFALO, NEW YORK

This 42’ x 11’ mural is a life-size crossword puzzle, that uses visual clues. The words are spelled faux-nettickly, allowing for a multitude of possible answers. The theme: things that require you to read. The crossword was filled out periodically during the month of August, 2023. Participants were invited to solve the crossword alongside the artist.

This work allows the viewer to see how much reading and writing is required to navigate daily life. It invites participants to see the complexities of the english language by trying to spell words phonetically; presenting two dyslexic struggles simultaniously. The exhibition of this work in a bookstore was important in activating an unconventional audience who might not be exposed to this plight otherwise.
